Web Content Accessibility Guidelines for Kit

Kit aims to build an inclusive platform that works well for users of all abilities. This article shares how we align with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and our ongoing efforts toward WCAG 2.1 AA compliance.

🌐 What Are WCAG Guidelines?

WCAG is a set of international standards for making digital content more accessible to people with disabilities — including auditory, cognitive, neurological, physical, speech, and visual impairments. There are three levels of compliance:

Level A: Basic accessibility requirements
Level AA: Addresses common barriers; legally required for many organizations
Level AAA: Highest level; rarely required

✅ What Kit Currently Supports

Level A compliance across core features
MUI Components: Kit uses Material UI (MUI), a component library with accessible design foundations aligned to WCAG 2.1 AA
Keyboard navigation for many interactive elements

📄 VPAT (Voluntary Product Accessibility Template)

We’re preparing a VPAT to document our alignment with WCAG 2.1 AA. It will be publicly available once finalized.
